The Board of Directors

A.I.Pro.Sa.B. is governed by a Board of Directors that is elected at the General Assembly. The role of the Board of Directors is to manage the association and to ensure its bureaucratic and legal functioning. Furthermore, it represents the association and directs it in the events and projects in which it is involved, deciding, according to the possibilities expressed in the Statute, where to invest the funds raised. The work of the Board of Directors is always subject to the attention of the Members' Assembly, which annually approves the association's financial budget.

Currently, the A.I.Pro.Sa.B. Board of Directors is composed of Amerigo Basso, as president; Riccardo Zanolli, as vice-president; Moreno Basso, as treasurer; Riccardo Viero, as secretary; Laura Lucchin, Gabriele Caron and Eugenia Guzzi as councillors.

Amerigo Basso

President

Sammy's father, from the moment he was diagnosed, has always strived to find the little information that existed at the time about progeria and to make contact with other families in the same situation. In 2005, together with his wife Laura, he conceived and co-founded the association, serving as its president ever since. Over the years, as well as being the promoter of various events related to progeria, he has become a point of reference both in terms of the association's relations and its organisation, being its legal head and representative.

Riccardo Zanolli

Vice-president

Master's degree in Product Innovation Engineering and works as a Mechanical Engineer.

He has known Sammy since they found themselves neighbours in the 9th grade. If those five years together have made them inseparable friends, the docu-reality 'Sammy's Journey' of which he was one of the protagonists, has made them brothers. Soon after, he joined the association's Board of Directors and helps manage social media and organise fundraising events. He participates and is Project Leader of the Sammy Runners, having run and coordinated the group in the "Sammy runs" events - Venice; Brenta; Milan etc.

Moreno Basso

Treasurer

Sammy's uncle who has lived through the stages one by one, from the discovery that Sammy was affected by this very rare disease in 1998, through the first discoveries that were sources of hope for a cure, to the active commitment in this field with the foundation of A.I.Pro.Sa.B. in 2005. Since then, he has always been involved in financial management within the association's Board of Directors with passion and diligence. He is a proud co-founder of an organisation that has become so important in supporting research and a point of reference for so many families.

Riccardo Viero

Secretary

Master's degree in Product Innovation Engineering and works as a Project Manager. Passionate about the docu-reality "Sammy's Journey", he then had the good fortune to get to know Sammy through fruitful mutual friendships, and became one of his closest friends and collaborators. After his experience with the Sammy Runners initiative, he joined the association's Board of Directors as social media manager and also took care of operational secretarial work, trying to make a contribution to improving the communication and dissemination on which the association has based much of its efforts.

Gabriele Caron

Advisor

A graduate in Disciplines of Music, Arts and Entertainment, he works as a graphic designer and ceramist. He met Sammy through mutual friendships and in a short time their bond became so strong and sincere that he considered it brotherly. He joined the association's Board of Directors with the role of Councillor to make his participation in this project even more effective. He had already been a videomaker and graphic designer for several years for the association's pages and during the many events, starting with the Sammy Runners.

Laura Lucchin

Councillor

Sammy's mother, we might as well stop here: in fact, since she entered their life and family in 1998, the word 'Progeria' has been a constant in everything. She has always followed Sammy since he was a child for his medical needs and has been in charge of public relations since 2005, when she and her husband conceived and co-founded the association. As a councillor, she also takes care of answering enquiries, organising the various appointments with Sammy as a protagonist, while continuing to support him in his daily life and in his various needs.

Eugenia Guzzi

Councillor

Graduated in Modern Foreign Languages and Literature and now a retired teacher.

She met Sammy and his family in 1998 when they were diagnosed with Progeria. She immediately made herself available with her expertise to help them in their contacts with research teams from abroad, and also accompanied them to several meetings with other families. She is one of the co-founders of the association and currently, as Sammy has become proficient and good with English, she continues to serve on the board.
